Jalebi Divali Recipe with Nariel Coconut Oil

Divali isn’t complete without those tasty Indian Sweets! Use Nariel Coconut Oil to make this sweet and delicious Jalebi! Here’s the recipe:

Jalebi Recipe ✨⁠ .⁠

Batter Ingredients:⁠

-2 cups flour⁠

-1/2 teaspoon baking powder⁠

-1/4 tsp baking soda⁠

-1 cup yogurt⁠

-1 tbsp Nariel coconut oil⁠

-1/4 tsp turmeric powder or 3 drops orange food colouring⁠

-1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder⁠

-1/2 cup water⁠ .⁠

For Frying:⁠

-2 cups Nariel coconut oil⁠ .⁠

Syrup:⁠

-1 cup sugar⁠

-1/2 cup water⁠

-1 tbsp lemon juice⁠

-3 cardamom pods⁠ .⁠

Directions:⁠

– In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and baking soda. Then add the yogurt,⁠ water, cardamom and turmeric/colouring.⁠

– Cover and place in the fridge for 24 hours to ferment.⁠

-Once the batter has fermented, add the sugar and water to a small saucepan. Bring to a boil⁠ over medium heat.⁠

-Add 3 crushed cardamom pods and lemon juice. Simmer until a sticky syrup develops, about 5⁠ minutes.⁠ -Whisk the batter and add a tablespoon of water if the batter looks too thick. Transfer to a⁠ squeeze bottle or piping bag and snip the corner of the bag to your desired thickness.⁠

-Heat oil in a large frying pan over medium-low heat until it reaches 350°F.⁠

-Squeeze the batter into the hot oil, making small circular spiral shapes.⁠

-Fry jalebis until they are crispy on both sides, about 2 mins on each side⁠ -Remove and immediately dip in the syrup mixture. Remove from syrup, allow to cool and serve.⁠
